Nashville, TN - September 3, 2026 - Since the launch of Sun Record Company in 1952, the iconic, Memphis-born record label has showcased the absolute best of American roots music. From the birth of rock and roll to the earliest country outlaws, Sun Records was, and continues to be, the epicenter of what is now referred to as Americana. So it's only fitting that the Sun Label Group—home of Sun Records, Gaither Music, Green Hill Music, Rural Rhythm, and emeraldwave by Green Hill—kick off their year long celebration of Sun’s 75th anniversary during this year’s AMERICANAFEST.
On Wednesday, September 16th, Sun Label Group will take over the American Legion Post 82 in East Nashville for a six hour Americana Day Party soiree featuring a plethora of live music, food from Daddy’s Dogs, a special Sun flash sheet and local tattoo artists, vintage retail, and a taste of the brand-new Sun Records x Andrew Zimmern x French Truck Coffee collab. The blend was developed in close partnership with the Sun Records team. The goal was a coffee that felt approachable without being generic—something that matched the quality and character the Sun name carries. The result is a coffee that stands on its own, the way a great record does. Grab a free cup throughout the day. The afternoon will feature cold cans of Merican Light Beer, Nashville’s new favorite light beer. Rooted in nostalgia and inspired by the classics, Merican is a crisp, easy-drinking lager that feels like an old favorite...even if you’re just discovering it.
Jimmy Hart, who started his career as part of the Sun-signed group, The Gentrys, but may be better known in certain professional wrestling circles as “The Mouth of the South,” will be signing memorabilia and greeting fans. And, in addition to performances from Sun artists Ruthie Foster, Robert Randolph, Duane Betts, Nicole Atkins, a special Sun Records tribute set from Chuck Mead & The Sun Records Orchestra, Green Hill Music artist Craig Duncan and Gaither Music’s The Malpass Brothers, Jimmy Fortune, Ben Isaacs, Mike Rogers, and guest artist Sydni Perry will be taking the Legion stage as well.
